Richard Jonokuchi

Trainer

Richard Jonokuchi is an experienced healthcare professional with a diverse background in nursing education, clinical practice, and public service. He serves as a Trainer for The Leon Institute, where he draws upon his expertise to provide strategic oversight for the development and implementation of various educational and training programs. 

Previously, Richard served as the Director of Clinical Services at Pacific College from 2016 to 2023. During this time, he established crucial partnerships in nursing education and clinical affiliations with hospitals and colleges. His ability to foster and maintain relationships with surrounding community organizations contributed significantly to the growth and success of the nursing programs. He also played a vital role in collaborating with Dignity Health and managing the student taskforce for Covid relief, ensuring the success of mass vaccination events for people in underserved communities. In his role as a nursing instructor from 2014 to 2016, his passion for education became evident. He excelled in teaching, mentoring, and engaging in curriculum development, further demonstrating his commitment to the cultivation of future healthcare professionals. 

While working in the ICU at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Kaiser Permanente, Richard demonstrated exceptional leadership. He served as a staff preceptor and charge nurse, where his responsibilities ranged from overseeing patient care to serving on various hospital committees and mentoring fellow nurses.  

Richard is a dedicated public servant. In 2003, he joined the Orange County Disaster Medical Assistance Team CA-1. He was deployed to many local and nationally declared disasters, providing medical care in austere environments. Richard is also a veteran who has served in the United States Army Reserve as a commissioned officer in the Army Nurse Corps.   

Richard holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science from the University of California, Irvine, an Associate of Science in Nursing from Santa Ana College, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing. 

Richard Jonokuchi's multifaceted career in healthcare, education, and public service reflects his unwavering dedication to improving the quality of life for those around him.
